Ayu does a Drama Theme Song Collab with Kyon-kyon

Singer Hamasaki Ayumi (33) has been revealed to be the artiste performing the theme song 「how beautiful you are」, for the TV drama 「Saigo kara Nibanme no Koi (The Second-Last Love)」, which will start airing at 10pm on Thursdays from 12 January 2012.

The drama is a youthful love story between cheerful but miserable adults, set in Kanagawa’s Kamakura, co-starring Koizumi Kyoko (45) and Nakai Kiichi (50). Reading the script, ayu commented that she decided to “write a song that will bring out gentle feelings in everyone”. The end result is a medium ballad, about honestly giving thanks to one’s partner.

It’s been 2 years and 5 months since ayu’s last drama theme song collab, with 「Sunrise~LOVE is ALL~」 for morning TV drama 「Dandy Daddy?」 last July.

Recording for the song was done in London this November. With ayu’s attention to detail, her strong and sorrowful singing style, she redid the song many times until she was satisfied with the result; a song full of soul.

Drama Producer Wakamatsu Hiroki commented, “She’s made a wonderful song that reflects both the gentleness and sorrow of adult life at the same time. A perfect fit with the drama’s image”. The song will be released for distribution from next February on, with ayu’s comment of “I’ll be glad if listeners of all ages can sympathize with this song”.
