Whenever I turn around, there was always someone there
I felt that I was protected
Even so, I remembered starting to feel the loneliness
As I let go of the hand I was holding on to
Looking up at the faded blurred sky
I moved away from the crowd, walked the other path alone
What had I always believed in?
What had I always protected?
The flower before my eyes, though alone, bloomed strong
And I remember that sky I saw that day
With no destination, I just cowered
Because there was nowhere I could go
I didn’t want any kindness, it was surely just pretence
But I still wanted someone beside me
Acting strong, never telling anyone the truth
I had been climbing the steps to being an adult
What had I always been searching for?
What had I always had in my hands?
Looking at children, holding and protecting their precious treasures
I superimposed myself onto them
What shall I believe in?
What shall I protect?
What shall I search for?
And what shall I have in my hands?
The flower before my eyes, though alone, bloomed strong
And I remember that sky I saw that day
“Maybe I can no longer be left on my own”
